Noosa’s favourite Italian restaurant, Ma’Mensa is one of the oldest established restaurants in Hastings Street. Ma’Mensa is known for its big tables, rock wall and wrought iron. Specialising in Italian cuisine, Ma’Mensa’s menu relies on the traditional roots of Italian cooking and local produce infused with a modern twist by head chef, Belinda Tuckwell. Our ingredients are sourced from the best importers of Italian produce together with our wonderful local suppliers. We cater for the gluten free diet as our house made pasta and pizzas are gluten free. All of our pasta and breads are made in-house on a daily basis. Our thin crust pizzas are said to be the best in Hastings Street.
Ma’Mensa is loose slang for “mother’s table” – we have one long table that can accommodate 24 people which was built out of the wood from the old Brisbane wharves. Colourful sky lights brighten the ceiling down one side of the restaurant and black and white photographs taken in Italy adorn most walls. Dining options are many – whether it is a quiet dinner for two in our front courtyard; a table for four inside or in the front courtyard; big groups can share one of our many long tables, we now have one large table that overlooks Hastings Street where everyone can watch the passing parade; or Ma’Mensa can cater to those people that wish to “hide” in our back room whether it is a case of being “famous” – “well known” – or wanting total privacy for an intimate occasion, our “Backroom” is the ideal solution.
